Welp folx, Saturday was the day. The VIT was ordained. It was an entirely different affair than we had been envisioning. There were less than 20 people there. But at the end of it he was consecrated by the Bishop and it was finished. It was a moment of immense pride and joy and relief. The process to get to Saturday was one of just over 7.5 years.
Many people were so supportive of this journey. Our families of origin, we would not be the people we are without you. Your willingness to let go so we could let God is one we are so thankful for. Also, a special shout out to the vicar’s parents, it’s not enough but thank you.
To our chosen family, your prayers, texts, remembrances of birthdays and special moments and showing up in various ways got us through some dark days and made us feel enveloped in love on the brightest of moments. We love you and although we are in different places, we love you by day and pray for you by night.
To our dear children, thank you. Your flexibility, love, and grace are boundless. Mom and Dad cannot believe how much you’ve grown and we love you more than all the squitos in Texas.
Lastly, to the new vicar, I’m inexplicably proud of you. The last 7.5 years were not easy and involved so much giving and giving up on your part. Seeing you fully embracing what God has called you to do was one of the greatest moments of my life. I love you forever.
Now we learn our new roles and norms. We learn how to move to this new season of music and engage in our world. As always there will be good days and difficult days. We will weather them and adjust the sails as we always have. Here is to the next 32 years!
