The Waiting

I've written about the waiting periods in the life of the clergy and their families. Waiting to get through the process of discernment, in all its stages is so hard. Leaning into the unknown and trusting that there is a plan is hard. Rejection, readjustment and the willingness to put yourself out there are hard. Listening for the quiet voice and sometimes silent redirection of God can be brutal. Learning how to take
"not this for now" and seeing it as a part of the grand scheme is really challenging. But you wake up, lean into the discomfort, pray, seek solace, and try again. Because you were made for this. Your spouse was made for this and while it is hard, it is not impossible. You will find the place that needs you and that you need. Be patient. Be grateful. Good things are coming. For now, enjoy the moment and drink some water, you're probably dehydrated.
